Mayer Brown announced that Jeremiah DeBerry, Mayer Brown’s Director of Diversity & Inclusion in the United States, has been selected by Profiles in Diversity Journal as a 2016 “Diversity Leader.” The publication’s annual award series recognizes individuals who “are embracing the significance of building diverse and inclusive cultures with programs that have potential to extend beyond the companies they represent.”

The article profiled Mr. DeBerry’s efforts “in spearheading diversity as a change agent in the legal sector” and his important role in recruiting, hiring, developing and promoting diverse lawyers at Mayer Brown. Citing a key metric of Mr. DeBerry’s success, the article noted that 75 percent of the associates promoted in 2015 to partner in Mayer Brown’s New York office were diverse and 75 percent were women. Mr. DeBerry described this development as “a testament to the sincerity of our commitment to improving diversity and inclusion.”
