Mayer Brown lawyers received the “Bill of Rights in Action Award” from the Constitutional Rights Foundation Chicago (CRFC) for their work with the American Civil Liberties Union on behalf of same-sex couples in the Wisconsin marriage equality cases. At the CRFC’s annual Bill of Rights in Action Awards Benefit on October 6, the nonpartisan, nonprofit organization recognized eight litigators from the firm’s Chicago office for their counsel on Wolf v. Walker and Bloechl-Karlsen v. Walker: Partners Timothy S. Bishop and Hans J. Germann; Mayer Brown’s director of pro bono activities and litigation training, Marc R. Kadish; and associates Tyler D. Alfermann, Frank M. Dickerson, Rebecca Klein, Alexandra L. Newman and Linda X. Shi.
CRFC’s mission is to strengthen American democracy by providing elementary and secondary students with hands-on learning about the Constitution to prepare them for informed civic engagement.
