For the second consecutive year, Mayer Brown is voted Asia “Law Firm of the Year: Transactions” by over 50,000 global readers of PERE, a leading publication covering the global private real estate markets. The publication credited Mayer Brown for having advised private real estate transactions worth over $4.8 billion in Asia in 2014, such as advising several Chinese insurance companies towards making overseas real estate acquisitions. It also said, “While much of the firm’s transactions have been in Hong Kong and China, it was also active in Indonesia too.”

David Ellis, a partner who leads the Private Equity Real Estate practice in Asia said, “We are honoured to have received this award two times in a row. This is testimony to our leading position in the region, I would like to congratulate everyone involved on this recognition.”

Following the arrival of partner Ricky Yiu who focuses his practice on real estate and development projects in Hong Kong, the PRC and Macau, Mayer Brown recently welcomed the arrivals of Real Estate partner Kwon Lee in Hong Kong and Tax partner Pieter de Ridder in Singapore. Kwon has over 20 years of experience advising on a wide range of cross-border real estate transactions while Pieter also has over two decades of experience advising multinational companies and institutions with interests in one or more Asian jurisdictions on their inbound and outbound work. Their arrivals have further strengthened the already strong Real Estate practice, and one of the largest Real Estate teams in a law firm. The practice has over 140 members or 25 partners and consultants with over half of them listed as Leading Real Estate individuals by various major legal publications.
