Mayer Brown advised on the transaction named “North America Deal of the Year – Large Markets” by Global M&A Network in its 2014 Americas M&A Atlas Awards series, which honors top deals, star dealmakers and firms from the North and South Americas mergers, acquisitions, corporate and private equity deal communities. In addition, Global M&A Network named Corporate & Securities partners Philip Brandes (New York) and David Carpenter (Chicago/New York) among 2014’s “Top 50: North America M&A Lawyers” and “Top 50: Global M&A Lawyers,” respectively.
In the winning matter, Mayer Brown represented private equity firm The Jordan Company, L.P. on the sale of Haas Group Inc., a fully integrated provider of outsourced chemical supply chain management solutions, to Wesco Aircraft Holdings, Inc. for $550 million. Haas was a portfolio company of The Resolute Fund, L.P., an affiliate of The Jordan Company, L.P. Wesco is a leading provider of supply chain management services to the global aerospace industry. The Mayer Brown team was led by Mr. Brandes and included lawyers from the firm’s Antitrust & Competition, Corporate & Securities, Employment & Benefits, Government & Global Trade, Intellectual Property, Litigation & Dispute Resolution and Tax Transactions & Consulting practices.
Mr. Brandes, in being named to the “Top 50: North America M&A Lawyers” list, is recognized as one of the “most accomplished, brilliant and innovative private equity dealmakers, investment bankers and lawyers from the North and the South America deal communities,” according to the organization. A co-leader of Mayer Brown’s global Corporate & Securities practice, he represents strategic and financial investors in mergers and acquisitions, leveraged buyouts, debt and equity securities offerings, bank financings and joint ventures, frequently with a cross-border dimension. Mr. Brandes has particular experience advising private equity sponsors.
In recognizing Mr. Carpenter as one of the “Top 50: Global M&A Lawyers,” Global M&A Network ranks him among “[the] visionary senior level executives passionately engaged in making a deal happen” and acknowledges his work on deals “exemplifying ‘Distinction in Dealmaking’ qualities, world-wide.” Mr. Carpenter focuses primarily on mergers and acquisitions, divestitures and sales of businesses, joint ventures and strategic alliances, with particular emphasis on cross-border transactions.
