Mayer Brown, a leading global law firm, announced today that its nationally ranked Government Contracts group has launched a blog, “Meaningful Discussions”: Analysis and Commentary Regarding Cutting-Edge Public Contracting Issues. (You can also follow the blog on Twitter: @MayerBrownGovtK .) The blog provides incisive commentary on a broad range of legal developments that are important to government contractors.
Meaningful Discussions will be overseen by co-editors Marcia Madsen, David Dowd and Luke Levasseur, Washington DC-based Mayer Brown lawyers who focus their practices on government contract matters. Other regular contributors to the blog include Mayer Brown lawyers Cameron Hamrick, Michelle Litteken and Polly Myers.
The blog’s writers will analyze and comment on decisions of courts and administrative bodies impacting the government contracts community. The blog will also cover legislative and regulatory developments on both federal and state levels.
“Mayer Brown’s Government Contracts lawyers have decades of experience dealing with the most difficult issues that government contractors face and the constant evolution of the law, including in critical areas such as false claims, mandatory disclosure, debarment, disputes and bid protests that affect the ability of contractors and their government customers to work together to accomplish their mission,” said Ms. Madsen, leader of the firm’s Government Contracts group. “The launch of Meaningful Discussions will provide us with a broader platform to facilitate a more public and constant discussion of important procurement issues.”
Mr. Dowd said, “From audits and investigations to legislative developments and regulatory changes affecting government contracting, Mayer Brown’s Government Contracts group is uniquely positioned to provide blog readers with consistent commentary on the critical, relevant and interesting issues facing them today.”
“Government contracts and other federal programs cover virtually every aspect of the US economy and the impact of these programs is continuing to grow,” added Mr. Levasseur. “The blog will enable us to discuss connections between government contracts and many other disciplines such as employment, mergers and acquisitions, and cyber security, which all affect the ability of the government and its contractors to function effectively.”
Mayer Brown’s Government Contracts group has vast experience representing parties from virtually every industry—aerospace to defense, information technology to engineering, and heath care—in all types of contract negotiations, teaming agreements, mergers and acquisitions, and litigation. Their recent cases range from bid protests to contract claims, prime/subcontractor disputes and civil and criminal fraud investigations. The group’s accomplishments are consistently recognized by the legal industry, including being named a “Government Contracts Practice of the Year” by Law360.
