Leading global law firm Mayer Brown advised Turkish airport service provider Çelebi Havacilik Holding A.S on the acquisition of the German air cargo handling and warehousing business from Aviapartner. With this purchase Çelebi takes over Aviapartner´s freight handling at Frankfurt Rhein-Main Airport and airport Frankfurt-Hahn.

The acquisition is part of Çelebi´s international expansion. Çelebi earlier enlarged its presence in Austria with the acquisition of Çelebi Ground Services Austria GmbH (former Fraport Ground Services Austria GmbH) (see news release). Mayer Brown also advised on this matter as well as other activities of Çelebi in the German market for airport services.

Since 2010 Çelebi is active in the air cargo handling and warehousing business at Frankfurt Airport. With the acquisition of Aviapartner, who handled 125,000 tons of cargo and had about 12.6 million Euro turnover in 2013, the service provider expands its position considerably.

The Mayer Brown team was led by Dr. Guido Zeppenfeld (Employment & Benefits, Frankfurt) and included counsel Björn Vollmuth (Employment & Benefits, Frankfurt) as well as associates Dr. Jan Streer (Corporate, Düsseldorf), Vanessa Klesy (Employment & Benefits) and Elmar Günther (Real Estate, both Frankfurt).
