Five Mayer Brown partners have been named 2014 “Client Service All-Stars” by BTI Consulting Group. BTI has included one or more Mayer Brown lawyers on the Client Service All-Stars list each year since it was launched in 2001.
The honorees are:
- Employment & Benefits partner Maureen J. Gorman (New York);
- Banking & Finance partner Carol A. Hitselberger (Charlotte and New York);
- Litigation & Dispute Resolution/Antitrust & Competition partner Britt M. Miller (Chicago);
- Corporate & Securities partner David A. Schuette (Chicago), who was recognized as a “2-Year MVP” for making the list for the second consecutive year; and
- Litigation & Dispute Resolution partner Mark R. Ter Molen (Chicago).
The 2014 edition honored 330 US lawyers across all practice areas, an “elite group of standout attorneys” who received unprompted praise from nearly 300 corporate counsel at Fortune 1000 and other large companies for “delivering the absolute best client service,” according to BTI. Criteria included client focus, innovative thought leadership, exceptional understanding of the client’s business, outsized value, legal skills and outstanding results.
Maureen J. Gorman handles executive compensation and employee benefits matters. She advises clients on a broad array of benefit arrangements, in both domestic and international contexts, for example, on de-risking issues for defined benefit plans, 401(k) plan investment fund issues, the establishment and administration of global equity and deferred compensation plans, Section 409A issues, counseling on ERISA fiduciary issues, controversy work involving IRS and DOL audits, and all nature of transactional work, including M&A, joint ventures and finance facilities. Ms. Gorman has held faculty positions as Adjunct Professor with the University of Chicago Law School and the Boston University Law School. She earned a JD from Yale Law School and holds a BA from The College of William & Mary.
Carol A. Hitselberger concentrates her practice on financing matters related to securitization and other structured financial products, including structuring domestic and cross-border commercial paper-funded securitization vehicles and securitizing trade receivables, credit card receivables, aircraft, leases, franchise portfolios, government contracts, trademark licenses, and various other financial assets. She has experience with synthetic leases and synthetic securitizations. Ms. Hitselberger’s work also includes representation of program sponsors, underwriters, placement agents, advisors, liquidity providers, credit enhancers and issuers in private placements, public offerings, and Rule 144A/Regulation S executions. She serves on Mayer Brown's Partnership Board. Ms. Hitselberger holds a JD cum laude from University of Pennsylvania Law School and earned an AB magna cum laude from Bryn Mawr College.
Britt M. Miller is a co-leader of the Litigation & Dispute Resolution practice in Chicago and is a group leader of Mayer Brown’s Antitrust & Competition practice. She practices in the areas of antitrust litigation and complex commercial litigation. She focuses on representing domestic and international corporations in price-fixing, market allocation, monopolization, and conspiracy cases, and has also counseled clients on general antitrust issues. Ms. Miller has been involved in numerous antitrust cases involving a variety of products and industries including synthetic rubber, aspartame, resins, household moving services, consumer health products, industrial chemicals, paper products, financial products, fertilizers and vitamins. Her general litigation experience spans both the federal and state court systems relating to contract disputes, constitutional rights, securities fraud, banking practices, airline deregulation, products liability and trust interpretation. Ms. Miller earned a JD cum laude from Northwestern University School of Law, and received a BA from Auburn University.
David A. Schuette concentrates on securities and corporate work. He regularly advises public companies in a variety of industries on SEC compliance matters and corporate governance issues. In addition, he represents issuers, underwriters and selling stockholders in various types of equity offerings, including common stock, ADRs and limited partnership units, and various types of debt offerings, including mortgage bonds, convertible debt, investment grade and high-yield debt, as well as equipment trust pass-through certificates. Mr. Schuette also represents issuers and investment banks in connection with debt tender offers, consent solicitations and other liability management transactions. He holds a JD cum laude from The University of Michigan Law School and an AB cum laude from Georgetown University.
Mark R. Ter Molen is a litigator with a particular emphasis on product liability/mass tort and environmental matters, and an environmental attorney who for more than 20 years has focused primarily on representing clients in federal and state product liability/toxic tort and environmental trials and appeals, including putative class actions, in complex products and environmental litigation, and in regulatory hearings and appeals conducted before state and federal agencies. He also provides general corporate counseling on environmental compliance issues and environmental concerns in the context of corporate transactions; supervises environmental remediations pursuant to various state and/or federal requirements; and conducts condemnation and property valuation actions. Mr. Ter Molen is a co-leader of Mayer Brown’s Environmental group. He earned a JD from The University of Chicago Law School and received an AB magna cum laude from Cornell University.
