London - Leading global law firm Mayer Brown announced today that Richard Todd and David O'Connor will both join its Banking & Finance group in London as partners. Richard, a former Mayer Brown securitisation lawyer, rejoins the firm from Berwin Leighton Paisner, where he has been a partner in their banking & capital markets group. David, who is also a securitisation specialist, joins from Allen & Overy.

Richard is an experienced and highly regarded structured finance partner who specialises in securitisations across a wide range of asset classes, including trade receivables, auto loans and residential mortgage loans. He also has strong trade finance and asset based lending capabilities and advises both banks and companies. Richard adds invaluable in house experience having worked as director in the Structured Capital Markets legal team at Lloyds Banking Group, following his tenure at Mayer Brown.

David is also a senior securitisation lawyer whose practice includes RMBS, CMBS, covered bonds and CMBS restructuring. David has worked closely with a number of investment banks and financial institutions who are existing clients of Mayer Brown, and for a time was a banker at Deutsche Bank. David will also work with Ashley Katz, Devi Shah and litigation partner Alistair Graham, who joined in January 2013, on CMBS restructurings.

Both appointments will support Mayer Brown's established structured finance team.

Dominic Griffiths, head of Mayer Brown's Banking & Finance group in London, said: "We are a core adviser to a number of clients in the securitisation sector and for some time now we have been keen to further expand our English law team to meet client demand.

"Richard and David's skills will be of huge benefit to our clients. I have personally known Richard for many years. He is a very fine lawyer and I look forward to him rejoining me, senior securitisation partner Kevin Hawken and our other partners and associates working on domestic and international structured financings. David will be an equally valuable addition to the team. His expertise perfectly matches our current focus in securitisation and restructuring and I am delighted that we have attracted a lawyer of his standing."

David O'Connor said: "It is an exciting time to join Mayer Brown as the structured finance team works with some great clients. I very much look forward to helping to exploit the many opportunities in this area."

Richard Todd said: "Rejoining Mayer Brown is an exciting opportunity to support the continued growth of the firm's securitisation and asset-based lending practices. I have a synergy with many of the firm's major clients, having acted for them when I was previously at the firm and I look forward to working with the rest of the group to strengthen the services offered to clients."
