Mayer Brown, a leading global law firm, has received the 2013 “Pro Bono Partner Award” from United Way of Metropolitan Chicago in honor of its significant pro bono support and commitment to the community during the past year. United Way focuses on creating social change by investing in education, income and health programs to ensure people have the tools they need to thrive.

Mayer Brown was recognized for providing pro bono legal counsel to the organization and its management on complex labor and employment-related matters. The firm also was honored for guiding United Way in ownership matters, most recently in the sale of the organization’s previous office and in lease negotiations for its new office space. Mayer Brown accepted the award at United Way’s annual Community Celebration on June 7.

“Mayer Brown is a longtime supporter and friend, continuing to step up and provide their legal guidance and expertise,” said Wendy DuBoe, President and CEO of United Way of Metropolitan Chicago. “Because of their pro bono work, United Way is able to funnel more vital resources to communities of greatest need.”

Litigation & Dispute Resolution counsel Kim Leffert leads the team from Mayer Brown’s Chicago office, which includes Employment & Benefits partner Ryan Liebl and counsels Karen Grotberg and Cecilia Roth.
