Mayer Brown, a leading global law firm, announced that Litigation & Dispute Resolution partner Scott Chesin has been selected as one of New York Law Journal’s 2013 “Rising Stars.” The award recognizes New York’s most promising lawyers under 40 who have made significant contributions to the practice of law and their communities.

Mr. Chesin handles appeals in state and federal courts throughout the country, with a particular focus on New York-based matters. He has argued appeals in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit and the various New York Appellate Divisions, and he has authored dozens of briefs filed in the New York appellate courts, the U.S. Supreme Court, and over a dozen other state and federal appellate courts. In addition to handling purely appellate matters, Scott regularly partners with trial lawyers at Mayer Brown and other firms to litigate complex legal issues at the trial-court level. As legal strategy counsel during jury trials, Scott handles all aspects of appellate preservation, including drafting and arguing motions in limine, dispositive motions, directed-verdict and post-trial motions, proposed jury instructions and verdict forms, and exhibit objections.

“Rising Stars” judges selected 44 winners from more than 200 nominations. View Mr. Chesin’s feature article here.
