Mayer Brown, a leading global law firm, announced today that Richard M. Steuer, a partner in the Litigation & Dispute Resolution practice has been elected Chair of the American Bar Association’s (ABA) Section of Antitrust Law.
The Section of Antitrust Law is the largest body of antitrust, competition and consumer protection professionals in the world, with 8,000 members from dozens of countries, including lawyers, economists, enforcement officials, jurists and academics.
“The coming year promises to be interesting and challenging for the global economy, and fascinating for the Section of Antitrust Law,” Mr. Steuer said. “We will continue to pursue our mission of leaving competition and consumer protection law better than we find it, year after year.”
For many years, Mr. Steuer has served in a variety of roles with the Antitrust section, including Chair-Elect, Vice Chair, Secretary and Committee Officer, delegate to the ABA House of Delegates and editorial director of the section’s Antitrust magazine. He also served for three years as Chair of the Antitrust Committee of the Bar of the City of New York.
Mr. Steuer’s practice focuses on antitrust law, including litigation, merger clearance, government investigations and counseling. He has taught antitrust law as an adjunct professor, lectures frequently on antitrust law and has authored a book and numerous articles on antitrust law.
