Houston, 12 April 2010 – Mayer Brown, a leading global law firm, announced today that Dallas Parker, one of the top corporate and energy lawyers in Houston, has joined its Houston office as a partner in the Corporate & Securities practice. He comes to Mayer Brown from Thompson & Knight, where he was managing partner of that firm’s Houston office.

“Dallas is one of the best-known and most highly regarded corporate lawyers in Houston, and attracting him is a significant achievement for our firm,” said Mayer Brown Chairman Bert Krueger. “His broad international experience, particularly with energy industry clients, will be a significant asset as we continue to deepen our cross-border energy capabilities.”

Mr. Parker cited Mayer Brown’s worldwide office network as a significant factor in his decision to join the firm. “The practice of law has become increasingly international in scope, and Mayer Brown’s global platform will enable me to serve clients more effectively and continue to grow my practice. An added plus is the firm’s recent association with Tauil & Chequer, an outstanding firm in the high-growth Brazilian market where many companies in the energy sector have interests,” he said.

“Continuing to build our corporate and energy practices is a strategic priority for Mayer Brown in Houston,” said Michael E. Niebruegge, former Partner-in-Charge of the Houston office. “Dallas brings to the firm outstanding credentials in these areas and further accelerates our strong momentum in lateral recruitment, which has led to the addition of four new partners in the last year.”

Mr. Parker represents clients in corporate and securities law matters, with extensive experience in the areas of mergers, acquisitions, takeovers, proxy contests, public and private offerings of equity and debt securities, corporate governance, independent committees and related matters. He frequently represents US energy companies in both domestic and international matters and overseas companies seeking to do business in the US.

The Best Lawyers in America has recognized Mr. Parker as “outstanding” in corporate law matters for 27 consecutive years. He also has been ranked in Chambers USA since 2004. He holds a B.A. degree from Vanderbilt University and graduated cum laude from the University of Texas School of Law.
