1 October 2009 – Mayer Brown LLP, a leading global law firm, has been named the winner of the North America Tax Litigation Firm of the Year and the U.S. Tax Court Firm of the Year awards in International Tax Review’s fourth annual Americas Tax Awards. The firm also was a finalist for awards in the Chicago Transfer Pricing Firm of the Year and Chicago Tax Firm of the Year categories.
The Americas Tax Awards celebrate the most innovative tax transactional, structuring, litigation and transfer-pricing work done in North and South America This year’s winners were chosen based on their work in the past 12 months, in addition to information obtained through interviews with a significant number of tax advisers, private-practice lawyers, tax executives and in-house counsel to gain their perspective on the ground-breaking work completed throughout the year.
“These awards are a testament to the skill and dedication of the exceptional attorneys in the group and to our clients who afford us the opportunity to work on the most exciting and challenging tax matters,” said Joel V. Williamson, co-firmwide practice leader for Mayer Brown’s Tax Controversy practice. “The achievement is particularly meaningful because it demonstrates the high regard in which the practice is held by our clients and peers.”
Earlier this year, Mayer Brown also was recognized by both Chambers USA and Legal 500 with top-tier rankings for its Tax Controversy practice – the third consecutive year in which Mayer Brown was one of only two firms to receive the highest rankings in the Tax Controversy category from both publications.
