23 September 2009 – Leading international law firm Mayer Brown has advised VION Food Group Limited on the sale of its Thai chicken business, Grampian Foods Siam, to Navis Capital.

VION Food Group Limited, the UK arm of VION N.V., produces and processes high quality beef, lamb, pork, bacon and chicken as well as convenience products such as sausages and cooked meats. VION N.V. has an annual turnover of €9.6 billion and employs 35,500 staff worldwide.

Grampian Foods Siam, a Thailand-based producer of both raw and cooked chicken products, has an annual turnover of over US$200 million and is a leading exporter of chicken products, mainly to the UK and Japan.

Navis Capital is an Asia-focused private equity firm with over US$2 billion of equity capital under management and a portfolio of over 30 companies.

Lawyers from the London and Bangkok offices of Mayer Brown worked with VION's Netherlands-based Fred Koelen, General Counsel a.i., and UK Legal Counsel Robbie McKenzie to complete the deal. The Mayer Brown team, which drew lawyers from the corporate, finance, environment, IP, tax and employment groups, was led by corporate partner Henrietta Walker with senior associate Louise Cracknell.
