7 January 2009 - JSM is expanding its corporate and securities practice in Asia with the arrival of Mark Uhrynuk from London. Mark is a partner of Mayer Brown International LLP and is relocating to Hong Kong to head the US corporate and securities team in Asia. Mark is one of the leaders of Mayer Brown’s global corporate and securities practice and has been advising multinational corporations, investment banks and investors on securities and corporate law matters from New York and London for over 20 years. Mark has been with Mayer Brown his entire career.

"Mark is extremely experienced in advising on sophisticated matters and can untangle the legal intricacies surrounding them.", says Patrick Wong, Partner and Head of JSM's Corporate and Securities practice. "He is well regarded in the industry and has been cited by clients as an 'extremely smart lawyer' delivering not just legal solutions to complex issues but also a commercial awareness that makes these solutions practical."

Mark's strength and knowledge in both global and US public and private offerings of equity and debt securities, investment funds, cross-border M&A and private equity complements JSM's current Corporate Finance, Private Equity, and Corporate/M&A practices which are seeing a significant increase in both China inbound and outbound investments. This new US corporate and securities law capability will ensure that JSM maintains its edge in delivering comprehensive, quality legal services to meet the growing demands of our clients in cross-border transactions.

"These may be quiet times for some industry sectors. While JSM is sensitive to current economic conditions, we still need to remain focused on our longer term global strategy and increasing our capability to provide comprehensive, cutting edge legal advice across jurisdictions." says Elaine Lo, Asia Chair and Senior Partner of JSM. "The financial markets are becoming more and more diversified and international, often involving cross-border transactions and regional coordination. The relocation of Mark to Hong Kong will assist our clients in their complex capital markets, M&A, securities and investment funds transactions, and also provide them with the best of our international knowledge".

Mark has practised in both the United States and the United Kingdom. He has a solid track record in US securities law and regulation; international capital markets transactions; investment fund matters (including infrastructure, private equity and real estate funds); private equity and venture capital financings and investments; cross-border mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures and strategic alliances.
