JSM has expanded its Asian Energy practice with the appointment of Jack Su, Senior Consultant, who will be based in Hong Kong. He joins a 150-member strong Global Energy Practice Group.
Jack, who has been in Asia since 1991, has a solid track record in the mergers and acquisitions of energy, power and infrastructure entities in Asia and has been involved in projects totalling more than US$4 billion. He also has extensive experience in the development and financing of power and water projects.
Jack joined JSM from Lovells. Prior to that, he worked for a number of other large international legal firms. He was also in-house counsel for Vivendi Water (now known as Veolia Environment), one of the world's leading environmental services providers, where he led the acquisitions and financing team in Asia. Jack also worked for Sithe Asia, Vivendi's power development subsidiary.
"The energy industry is undergoing a rapid transformation. It faces rising challenges in relation to technology, climate change, the economy, regulation and the environment," said Elaine Lo, Asia Chair and Senior Partner of JSM. "To gain a sustainable competitive edge in the market, we must understand the rapidly-changing business environment and be able to provide commercial legal solutions to our clients. We are delighted to have Jack joining us. He brings with him a wealth of experience in the energy and infrastructure sectors which will no doubt benefit our clients."
Robert Hamill, Co-head of Mayer Brown's Global Energy Practice Group added, "Jack will be a key addition to our energy team. He has the experience in and knowledge of the Asian energy market to augment our strong capabilities there. Jack will be another solid advisor in our group for our many US and European energy clients interested in growth in Asia."
Jack looks forward to his new role at JSM. "JSM is reputable for its strong client base in Asia and more recently, the expanded global network after its combination with Mayer Brown. I look forward to working with the team in Asia as well as other Mayer Brown offices in the United States and Europe," Jack said.
Jack graduated from Indiana University and received his Juris Doctorate from Washington University School of Law. He is a frequent speaker at conferences and a regular contributor to energy and trade magazines.
