8 July 2008 - Leading international law firm Mayer Brown has advised VION N.V. on their acquisition of UK food processor Grampian Country Food Group (Holdings) Limited.

The acquisition is subject to certain conditions including the approval of the European Commission.

VION, with its headquarters in the Netherlands, is one of Europe's largest food companies. It has an annual turnover of more than €7.1 billion and employs 18,000 people worldwide. Mayer Brown has also advised VION on its acquisition of a majority of shares in J&J Tranfield, a UK based specialist sausage and pizza producer.

Grampian Country Food Group Ltd was founded in Scotland in 1980 and supplies the major supermarkets with chicken, pork, beef and lamb. The company currently employs 17,500 staff with an annual turnover of £1.7 billion.

Following completion of the acquisition, Grampian will be integrated into the new VION division, VION UK.
