Leading international law firm Mayer Brown is pleased to announce the appointment of Angela Hayes to its financial services practice in London. She joins as a partner from LG, where she was Head of LG's Financial Services Regulatory Group, on 17 March, 2008.

Specialising in financial services regulation, Angela advises investment, private and retail banks, fund managers, insurers, IFA umbrella firms, listed companies and individual directors on a wide range of regulatory matters.

A "recommended financial services practitioner" UK Legal 500 2007, her extensive experience ranges from FSA authorisation issues for new businesses and new business lines and products, through conduct of business, cross-border business and passporting, compliance issues and disclosure obligations, to regulatory investigations, market abuse and fraud. 

Her notable engagements include advising clients involved in investigations by office holders, the Serious Fraud Office (SFO), the FSA and other regulators.  These include some of the most high profile fraud and regulatory investigations over the past few years, such as Independent Insurance, Equitable Life, split capital investment trusts, as well as, the SFO's probe into alleged price fixing in the generic pharmaceuticals industry. 

A member of the UK Securities and Investment Institute and of the Governing Committee of the UK Association of Regulatory and Disciplinary Lawyers, Angela is a well-known figure within the industry. She is a consultant editor of City and Financial's "A Practitioner's Guide to FSA Investigations and Enforcement" and contributes to the "Regulatory Investigation" chapter to "A Practitioner's Guide to Directors' Duties and Responsibilities."  Furthermore, she is a regular speaker on financial regulatory matters, most recently speaking on FSA enforcement, market abuse, financial promotion and MiFID implementation.
