14 December 2007 - Mayer Brown, a leading international law firm, has announced that Gianluca Bacchiocchi, Ricardo Gonzalez and Luke Richbourg have been promoted to the firm's partnership, effective January 1, 2008. Bacchiocchi, Gonzalez and Richbourg are members of the firm's Latin American practice group.

Gianluca Bacchiocchi, who is in the firm's Chicago office, is a structured finance lawyer focusing on Latin America. He represents issuers, underwriters and swap counterparties in public and private issuances of asset-backed securities. He also represents underwriters in private issuances of future-flow backed securities and project bond financings, and lenders in international debt restructurings and secured and unsecured lending arrangements. In 2007, he acted on the first Mexican mortgage-backed cross-border securitization, a project bond financing in Peru, a future-flow securitization for Banco de Crédito del Peru, and several toll road financings, including the award-winning IIRSA Sur project. He is fluent in Italian and Spanish.

Ricardo Gonzalez represents issuers and underwriters in connection with public and private offerings of debt, equity, convertible and hybrid securities by Latin American, European (particularly Spanish), Asian and US issuers. His practice focuses primarily on cross-border securities offerings and M&A transactions. Prior to joining Mayer Brown's Los Angeles office, Mr. Gonzalez practiced in the New York, London, Hong Kong and Madrid offices of another leading international law firm. He also regularly advises clients on 1934 Act reporting, corporate governance and other general corporate matters. He is fluent in Spanish.

Luke Richbourg, who is in the firm's New York office, focuses on debt and equity securities, private equity, corporate finance and project finance transactions. He has represented banks, borrowers and private equity sponsors in a variety of finance and restructuring transactions including recent matters in Argentina, Brazil, Mexico, Peru and Spain. In 2007 his work included acting for Nexstar Capital Partners on their acquisition of one of the largest electricity distributors in Peru and acting for RBTT on the award-winning Hidro Xacbal project in Guatemala. He is fluent in both Spanish and Portuguese.
