Washington, D.C., - November 28, 2007 - Mayer Brown LLP, a leading international law firm,  today announced that 14 of its Washington, D.C.-based attorneys were named in The Washingtonian's 800 Top Lawyers list. The list recognizes Washington's top one percent of attorneys, dispersed throughout 28 legal specialties.

Inclusion in the Top Lawyers list is based primarily on peer reviews and recommendations from more than 1,000 attorneys who were asked to name the top practitioners in their field and whom they would hire to represent them. Opinions were also garnered from judges, clients and former judges.

"This recognition reflects the caliber of our attorneys, our commitment to retaining the best in the legal field and to providing superior service to our clients," said Peter Scher, partner-in-charge of the Washington, D.C. office.

Mayer Brown's Washington office was the fastest growing of D.C.'s top 25 law offices in 2006 - with a 42 percent increase in attorneys and professionals over the previous year.  It is home to nearly 200 lawyers, many of whom have served in senior government, public service and financial regulatory positions.
