On 24 March 2021, Heng Li was invited by Chemical Watch, a leading global service provider for product safety professionals managing chemicals, to speak at their virtual conference “Key Regulatory Updates: Europe, Asia and the Americas 2021”. The three days virtual conference discussed the latest updates in chemicals control across the globe and the key regulatory challenges facing those working towards the safe management of chemicals. 

During the conference, Heng gave an overview of the latest chemical regulatory developments in China and walked the audience through the Guidance of the MEE Order 12 with a detailed comparison of the Guidance and the draft version. She also highlighted the two major issues addressed by the Transitional Arrangements after 1 Jan 2021 under MEP Order No.7, and went through the existing chemicals including the Regulation on the Environmental Risk Assessment and Control of Chemical Substances (ERAC) and Catalogue of Chemicals subject to Prioritised Control (CPC). Heng concluded her presentation by adding her perspective on future trends on chemical regulatory in China, including the treatment of “new pollutants”. The presentation was very well received and feedback from the audience were extremely positive.
