Karen H.F. Lee was invited to speak at the ITechLaw 2019 International Asia Conference, which took place from 30 January to 1 February 2019 and was held at the JW Marriott Bengaluru in Bangalore, India. The theme of this year’s two-day conference was “Re-Imagining Tech Regulations for the Digital Economy”.
During her session, “Fintech in Asia: Balancing Regulation and Innovation”, Karen and her co-panelists explored some of the strategies and initiatives adopted by regulators to achieve the balance between regulation and innovation. They looked at what regulation would look like in the future for the FinTech sector and examined innovative business models in FinTech that are disrupting the traditional financial services sector including P2P lending, payments, e-money, robo-advisory and crypto-currency.
The ITechLaw International Asia Conference brings together leading lawyers and industry representatives from around the Asia-Pacific region to discuss cutting-edge legal topics in technology and internet law. ITechLaw was established in 1971 and is one of the most widely established and largest associations that serves the technology law community. Its global membership base, representing six continents and spanning over 60 countries, reflects a broad spectrum of knowledge in the technology law field.
