Mark Mansour is a Litigation & Dispute Resolution partner in Mayer Brown’s Washington DC office. He focuses his practice on federal Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulatory matters.

For more than two decades, Mark has worked with clients in the food, pharmaceutical, medical device, dietary supplement and cosmetic industries to develop and implement strategies for regulatory approvals, compliance and enforcement actions, crisis management, rulemaking and public policy issues. He counsels corporations and organizations on how to negotiate effectively with government agencies in the US and key global markets.

Mark is a pioneer in the development of regulatory pathway strategies for approvals in the US and many international markets. He has been actively involved with industry and government to achieve solutions to issues such as the regulation of biotechnology and nanotechnology, and also is active in domestic and international industry groups involving the key regulated industries and has taken a lead role in drafting industry comments in response to key rulemaking activities over the past 20 years.

He is recognized as one of the most effective crisis managers in the food, drug and medical device fields, having been actively involved in the representation of clients affected by many of the largest and most complex recalls since 1997, including products such as melamine in pet food and heparin, and numerous other high profile food, pharmaceutical and medical device recalls.

Mark has assisted clients in managing numerous Federal Trade Commission (FTC) consumer protection matters. His FTC experience involves investigations, enforcement actions, negotiations and consent decrees for marketing, advertising, and privacy matters, as well as advertising disputes before the National Advertising Division of the Better Business Bureaus (NAD).

Before entering private practice, Mark served as assistant general counsel and director of global regulatory affairs with two of the world’s largest food companies where he set policies and global strategies on health and nutrition claims, fortification, packaging, food safety, FDA compliance and removal of international regulatory and trade barriers. Earlier in his career, he served as a staff member of the US House of Representatives. He is frequently quoted by major news publications, including NBC News, USA Today and Business Insider, among others.
