Christopher C. Watts

Christopher Watts is a senior associate in Mayer Brown’s Houston office and a member of the Litigation & Dispute Resolution practice. Christopher began his career at Mayer Brown after graduating from law school, but parted with the firm to start his own litigation practice focused primarily on probate and family law matters. Having returned to Mayer Brown, Christopher’s practice focuses on civil litigation in state and federal courts as well as arbitration.

Christopher regularly litigates a variety of complex commercial matters spanning an assortment of issues, including a range of energy matters. In addition to representing energy clients, Christopher also has represented clients in disputes involving insurance litigation, internal investigations, breach of contract, toxic torts, ERISA, fraud, intellectual property, and personal injury.

Christopher’s practice also includes a considerable commitment to pro bono matters. Christopher has represented several asylum clients who entered the US as unaccompanied minors without documentation. Christopher also has represented a death row inmate in both habeas and mandamus proceedings, the latter resulting in a unanimous jury verdict against a state governmental entity for failures related to the Texas Public Information Act.

Prior to law school, Christopher worked as a management consultant for a financial advisory and dispute consulting firm based in Chicago where he assisted his clients in tackling their organizational, administrative and process-related issues. Christopher received his JD from Columbia Law School, his LLM in International Criminal Law from the University of Amsterdam Law School, and his B.A. in Economics from Carleton College.
