Adolf Kraus and Levy Mayer form a partnership in Chicago.

1893

The US firm changes its name to Moran, Kraus, Mayer & Stein after Illinois Appellate Judge Thomas A. Moran joins the practice. Stein is elected Cook County judge that year and the firm becomes Moran, Kraus & Mayer.

1895

UK firm Rowe & Maw founded in London.

1899

John Rowe dies and Frederick James Maw continues the UK practice with Rowe’s name out of respect.

1909

The US firm changes its name to Mayer, Meyer, Austrian & Platt.

1970

The US firm becomes Mayer, Brown & Platt and opens an office in Washington DC.

1975

Rowe & Maw merges with Beddington, Hughes & Hobart.

1996

French firm Lambert & Lee founded in Paris.

1998

The US firm merges with North Carolina-based Blanchfield Cordle & Moore, P.A.

2001

The US firm opens an office in Northern California, merges with Lambert & Lee in France and Gaedertz Rechtsanwälte in Germany.

2002

Mayer, Brown & Platt combines with Rowe & Maw, forming Mayer, Brown, Rowe & Maw LLP.

2007

Mayer, Brown, Rowe & Maw becomes Mayer Brown.

2008

Mayer Brown combines with law practice Johnson Stokes & Master (JSM), establishing an Asia office platform that operates until 2024, when Mayer Brown reorganizes its Asia presence and JSM re-establishes itself as an independent law firm.

2009

Mayer Brown forms an association with Brazilian law firm Tauil & Chequer Advogados.

2022

Mayer Brown opens an office in Salt Lake City, Utah. The firm also launches a joint law venture with Singapore law firm PK Wong & Nair LLC known as Mayer Brown PK Wong & Nair PTE. Ltd
