Mayer Brown counsel Salomé Cisnal de Ugarte elected a vice chair and board member of AmCham EU

Mayer Brown, a leading global law firm, announced that Salomé Cisnal de Ugarte, Government & Global Trade counsel in the firm’s Brussels office, has been elected Vice Chair, Lawyer/Consultant and member of the Board of Directors of the American Chamber of Commerce to the European Union (AmCham EU) for a two-year term.
Based in Brussels, AmCham EU speaks for American companies committed to Europe on trade, investment and competitiveness issues. The organization aims to ensure a growth-oriented business and investment climate in Europe and advocates transparent and open communication between its members and European policy makers. AmCham EU is comprised of more than 140 member companies from a broad range of sectors.
Ms. Cisnal de Ugarte’s appointment marks the second time a Mayer Brown lawyer has served on AmCham’s EU board. Antitrust & Competition partner Kiran Desai (Brussels) held the position between 2007 and 2009.
Ms. Cisnal de Ugarte advises international companies on all areas of EU antitrust and competition law, including cartels, EU and multijurisdictional mergers, abuse of dominant positions, distribution and licensing practices, and state aid. Her practice also spans international trade negotiations and proceedings, as well as litigation before the European courts. She has particular sector expertise in financial services, consumer goods, media & technology and energy.
