Bring your own device ("BYOD") is the new phenomenon taking over the workplace. Your business, of course, may have permitted limited personal use of telephones and workstations for some time but now the reverse is becoming reality. Now everyone from the board of directors downwards is increasingly arming themselves with a bewildering array of interconnecting smart phones, tablets and laptops and they want to be able to use their own devices at work, for work. And given the potential reduction in IT hardware procurement costs and increase in general employee satisfaction and productivity this could bring, it is not surprising that many organisations are encouraging its adoption.
