Two Mayer Brown partners named 2017 “Most Influential Women Lawyers in Chicago” by Crain’s Chicago Business

8 August 2017

Mayer Brown announced that Litigation & Dispute Resolution partner Lori E. Lightfoot and Corporate & Securities partner Elizabeth Raymond were recognized by Crain’s Chicago Business among its 2017 “Most Influential Women Lawyers in Chicago.” The inaugural list honored women lawyers with impressive career achievements who mentor other women in the field and give back to the Chicago community.

Crain’s selected Ms. Lightfoot for her legal acumen, her experience in serving the city in various positions—including as president of the Chicago Police Board—and her commitment to social justice, describing her as “one of Chicago’s leading African-American attorneys and community advocates.” The publication noted her unique background of practicing law in various settings, including private practice and in government at the city and federal levels. Crain’s also highlighted Ms. Lightfoot as a recipient of the Federal Bar Association’s 2017 Cummings Award for pro bono service. (View profile.)

Ms. Raymond was selected as a “Most Influential Woman Lawyer in Chicago” for her strong track record of leading some of “the most sophisticated, high-value M&A deals for the world’s largest financial institutions,” according to Crain’s. The publication pointed to her recent leadership of the Mayer Brown team that advised Wells Fargo & Co. in its $32 billion acquisition of the commercial distribution finance and vendor finance business of GE Capital Corp. Crain’s also noted Ms. Raymond’s prowess in leading M&A deals in the fintech space, as well as her skill in handling billions in structured finance transactions. (View profile.)
