Tauil & Chequer Advogados expands its anti-corruption and compliance capabilities

"São Paulo – Tauil & Chequer Advogados, in association with Mayer Brown LLP, is pleased to announce the arrival of Bernardo Weaver, a new partner in the Anti-corruption & Compliance group of the Litigation & Dispute Resolution practice. Mr. Weaver left his position as the Executive Secretary of the Bank Sanctioning Committee for the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) in Washington DC, in order to advance our office’s practices in Latin America. He will be based in Tauil & Chequer’s office in São Paulo.

“Bernardo’s arrival is a strategic step for the office. Our anti-corruption and compliance capabilities have won praise both in Brazil and abroad, and someone with Bernardo’s international experience will be vital for the growth of our participation in this practice,” said Alexandre Chequer, managing partner of Tauil & Chequer Advogados.

In addition to his expertise in anti-corruption and compliance, Mr. Weaver brings his experience in criminal law in both Brazil and the United States. This experience, combined with the global reach of Mayer Brown, will offer clients an exceptional platform for both national and international issues.

Mr. Weaver was responsible for IDB cases involving fraud and corruption in 26 countries. He also helped to train the comptroller general and Federal Public Ministry for the implementation of the Anti-Corruption Act. Mr. Weaver is a member of bar associations in Brazil, New York and Portugal."
