16 September 2014

Mayer Brown, a leading global law firm, announced that Litigation & Dispute Resolution partner Archis Parasharami has been named to The National Law Journal’s “DC’s Rising Stars” list, which highlights “40 game-changing lawyers age 40 and under” “who are leaders in the law.”  View the article

Mr. Parasharami, the co-leader of Mayer Brown’s class action practice and a member of its appellate practice, was recognized for turning AT&T Mobility LLC v. Concepcion, “a landmark US Supreme Court victory three years ago, into a weapon, striking down court challenges against class-action waivers,” The National Law Journal said.  Mr. Parasharami, along with a number of Mayer Brown colleagues, successfully represented AT&T Mobility in Concepcion, in which the high court held that the Federal Arbitration Act preempts state-law rules that would refuse to enforce arbitration agreements solely because they waive class actions. Mr. Parasharami was also lauded for his work in launching Mayer Brown's first blog, “Class Defense,” which analyzes the latest trends in the law governing class actions and policy issues surrounding class actions.

Mr. Parasharami defends businesses in class action litigation in federal and state courts around the country; works with businesses to draft arbitration agreements and litigate the enforceability of those agreements; and advises and represents clients on legislative matters. He is the Washington DC office’s hiring partner and is a member of the firm’s Committee on Diversity and Inclusion.
