Mayer Brown partner Lori Lightfoot recognized by Chicago business and legal groups

Mayer Brown announced that Litigation & Dispute Resolution partner Lori Lightfoot (Chicago) has received two awards from Chicago business and legal groups for her pro bono and public service efforts.

The Business and Professional People for the Public Interest (BPI) named Ms. Lightfoot a “2017 Champion of Public Interest” for her commitment to public service and social justice throughout her legal career. The group recognized Ms. Lightfoot’s work as a federal prosecutor and her several leadership roles within Chicago’s government, including as president of the Chicago Police Board and leader of the Police Accountability Task Force. An independent public interest law and policy center, BPI’s mission is to advance innovative solutions to pressing issues of social justice and quality of life in the Chicago region.

In addition, the Federal Bar Association’s (FBA) Chicago Chapter awarded Ms. Lightfoot the Walter J. Cummings Award for Pro Bono Service, which is presented annually to a Chicago-area lawyer for his or her excellence and devotion to pro bono legal work. The FBA is composed of judges and practitioners. Ms. Lightfoot was nominated by an FBA committee.
