Mayer Brown launches second edition of “Managing the Early Stages of Commercial Litigation in the US: Critical First Steps” booklet

11 December 2017
Mayer Brown announced today the launch of the second edition of “Managing the Early Stages of Commercial Litigation in the US: Critical First Steps,” a booklet providing an overview of the common legal strategy issues that arise during the early stages of civil litigation matters and how to address them.

“In the weeks after a lawsuit is filed against a company, strategic decisions must be made and important tasks must be performed to ensure the case is put on a proper course for the duration of the litigation and beyond,” said New York-based Litigation & Dispute Resolution partner John Conlon, editor and co-author of the booklet. “Although every civil litigation case is different, the questions that arise in the early stages of such matters are often similar. This booklet will assist both in-house lawyers and outside counsel as they navigate this important stage in such cases.”

Authored by lawyers in the firm’s global Litigation & Dispute Resolution practice, “Managing the Early Stages of Commercial Litigation in the US: Critical First Steps” provides a handy checklist of tasks to be considered in a broad range of areas, such as: initial communications within a company; notification requirements; retaining counsel; preliminary litigation considerations; the collection of electronic evidence; and more.
