Mayer Brown advised on the transaction named “North America Port Deal of the Year” by IJGlobal at its 2016 Americas Awards, which recognize “excellence, achievement and innovation in energy and infrastructure finance” during the past year and are chosen by the publication’s editorial team.
Mayer Brown represented the Port Authority of Jamaica on the commercial and financial closing of the concession and lease of the Kingston Container Terminal, a marine container terminal located in Kingston, Jamaica. The firm advised the Port Authority on all aspects of the procurement process and extensive negotiations with the terminal line CMA CGM and its affiliated terminal operator, Terminal Link, that resulted in an executed 30-year concession agreement between the Port Authority and Kingston Freeport Terminals Limited. The Mayer Brown team included Banking & Finance partner George Miller and associate Regan Nunez (both New York) and Government Relations & Public Law partner Joe Seliga, counsel Jeromy Cannon and associate Rachel Smith (all Chicago).
