Mayer Brown advises CITIC Telecom International CPC Limited on the acquisition of telecommunication assets of Linx Telecommunications B.V.

10 May 2016

London — Mayer Brown has advised CITIC Telecom International CPC Limited ("CITIC Telecom CPC"), a leading international information and communication technology solutions provider, on the acquisition of the telecommunication assets of Linx Telecommunications B.V. ("Linx").

CITIC Telecom CPC, a wholly-owned subsidiary of CITIC Telecom International Holdings Limited (SEHK: 1883), will acquire the telecommunication business of Linx, including Linx's 470 kilometre optic fiber network in the Baltic Sea, and its network operations centres in Moscow and Tallinn, Estonia, as well as Linx's data centre in Tallinn, which serves as Estonia's largest Internet Exchange.
The acquisition will extend CITIC Telecom CPC's geographic footprint to markets in Central and Eastern Europe, further strengthening the company's global reach, which currently includes Asia-Pacific, North America and Western Europe.

Following regulatory approval, the acquisition is expected to complete in the second half of 2016.

Richard Page, Corporate & Securities partner at Mayer Brown, said: “This acquisition will allow CITIC Telecom CPC to benefit from Linx's extensive telecommunications infrastructure and business operations in Central and Eastern Europe, but also greatly enhance its ability to capture opportunities arising from China's "One Belt, One Road" cooperation initiative with countries in Asia, Europe, and Africa. We are delighted to advise our long-standing client as it expands its global operations."

The Mayer Brown team was led by Corporate & Securities partners Richard Page (London) and Jeckle Chiu (Hong Kong) and included Corporate & Securities associate Joanne Maitland (London); and Antitrust & Competition partner David Harrison, of counsel Warsha Kalé and associate Alexandra Aninoiu (all London).
