Mayer Brown advised Charterhouse Capital Partners on the acquisition of Sagemcom

4 October 2016

Paris - Mayer Brown advised the private equity investment fund Charterhouse Capital Partners on the acquisition of Sagemcom - the former subsidiary of Safran, the French producer of communicating terminals (internet routers, set-top boxes, multi-energy smart meters…) - from Carlyle, an American investment fund.

Since 2011, Sagemcom has been selling several activity branches to focus on its core activity : set-top boxes and modems. The company successfully extended its range of activities to smart meters. Sagemcom has designed the smart electric meter, Linky, launched in France in 2015.

By joining Charterhouse, Sagemcom wants to strengthen its positions in the ultra-high-speed broadband and energy markets, through the design and production of smart meters on demand for telecom operators and local authorities.

With a turnover of around €1.3 billion, Sagemcom employs 4,000 people on five continents and produces over 23 million HD set-top boxes and internet routers every year.

The Mayer Brown team advising Charterhouse Capital Partners with regard to the structuring aspects of this deal, included Laurent Borey (partner), Paul de France and Nicola Danan (associates).
