Mayer Brown JSM lawyers recognized at Euromoney Legal Media Group Asia Women in Business Law Awards 2016

Mayer Brown JSM announced that partner and co-leader of the firm’s global Intellectual Property practice Gabriela Kennedy won “Best in IP Litigation” and associate Karen H.F. Lee won “Rising Star: IP” at the sixth annual Euromoney Legal Media Group Asia Women in Business Law Awards. According to International Financial Law Review, a Euromoney Legal Media Group publication, the awards celebrate “the advancement of women in the legal profession.” Ms. Kennedy won "Best in TMT" three times at the annual awards (2011, 2012 and 2015), while Ms. Lee was shortlisted last year for “Rising Star:IP.” Both are based in Hong Kong.

Ms. Kennedy focuses her practice on intellectual property, media, information technology and telecommunications law. A highly respected IP and TMT lawyer, she handles the full spectrum of intellectual property work from litigation to licensing, strategic advice and portfolio management. She advises extensively on technology and data protection issues in Hong Kong and throughout Asia, particularly in relation to business processing outsourcing, the cross-border transfer of data, data compliance and data breaches.

Ms. Lee handles non-contentious intellectual property, technology and media matters. She has extensive experience in drafting and negotiating a wide range of commercial agreements, including major outsourcing agreements, data centre agreements, software development agreements, franchise agreements and IP licenses. Ms. Lee also regularly advises on data privacy issues for various international and Hong Kong based clients.
