3 June 2013

Mayer Brown today welcomes Loretta Chan as Consultant to its Corporate Services Department. Loretta comes with over twenty years of experience advising on corporate and commercial law both in private practice and as in-house counsel. Her areas of focus span from corporate secretarial practice, listed company compliance, and corporate finance, to financial services matters. She is also familiar with rules enforced by regulators such as the Hong Kong Stock Exchange and the Securities and Futures Commission.

“I would like to welcome Loretta to our Corporate Services Department,” said Patrick Wong, supervising partner of the department and Head of Corporate Finance in Asia. “Her wealth of experience as well as her depth of knowledge of company law and listed company compliance practice will further strengthen the capabilities of our Corporate Services Department before the new Companies Ordinance becomes effective in 2014.”

Loretta was the Associate Company Secretary of a major listed insurance company in Hong Kong prior to joining Mayer Brown. She served as Director (Technical and Research) of the Hong Kong Institute of Chartered Secretaries between 2005 and 2008, and before that she headed the legal department of a group of companies comprising three listed entities. She received her LLB and PCLL from the University of Hong Kong. She also received a bachelor’s degree in China Law from the China University of Political Science and Law and a master’s degree in Comparative and Public History from the Chinese University of Hong Kong.
