Mayer Brown announced today that Conor Warde is joining the firm as a partner in its Banking & Finance practice in Hong Kong. Mr. Warde was formerly a Hong Kong-based leader of Clyde & Co’s ship finance and transactional practice.

"Conor is a highly regarded ship finance lawyer in Asia," said Richard Stock, co-leader of Mayer Brown’s Banking & Finance practice. "His arrival further strengthens the firm’s asset finance offerings, reaffirming our dedication to expanding our tier-one shipping finance practice."

With more than a decade of experience advising on ship finance and maritime transactions, Mr. Warde has solid experience representing financial institutions, investors, ship owners and other clients in international financing, mergers and acquisitions and a broad range of corporate finance and investment issues.

"Mayer Brown has an excellent reputation in asset finance matters," said Mr. Warde. "I am excited to join the firm’s renowned ship finance practice and enhance its results-focused service offerings to leasing companies, institutional lenders and ship-owning community globally and particularly in Asia."

"Clients served by our Banking & Finance practice will immediately benefit from Conor’s deep experience in ship finance and other areas," added Terence Tung, the senior partner of Mayer Brown. "After the recent arrival of Angelia Chia and Ben Sandstad to form the Trade Finance group in Singapore, we are excited to welcome Conor to our growing practice."

Before joining Clyde & Co, Mr. Warde was a counsel in the Hong Kong and Washington DC offices of Blank Rome LLP, a large US-based law firm. Previously, he was an associate general counsel to International Registries, Inc. (the Marshall Islands Maritime and Corporate Registries). Admitted as a solicitor in Hong Kong, England and Wales, Mr. Warde is also qualified as a lawyer in the US and in the Republic of the Marshall Islands. Mr. Warde received a JD from the George Washington University Law School and a BA from Georgetown University.
