Mayer Brown partner Matthew Ingber named “Banking MVP” by Law360 for second consecutive year

4 December 2015

For the second consecutive year, Mayer Brown partner Matthew D. Ingber (New York), a co-leader of his office’s Litigation & Dispute Resolution practice, has been named a “Banking MVP” by Law360. The MVP recognition honors “elite attorneys” who have had “successes in high-stakes litigation, record-breaking deals and complex global matters” this year. (View article.)

Among Mr. Ingber’s accomplishments this year, the publication highlighted his work “help[ing] establish a template for courts to approve settlements in private residential mortgage-backed securities litigation by working on the largest settlement of that kind.” Mr. Ingber used a state law procedure known as an Article 77 proceeding to get judicial approval of a deal for The Bank of New York Mellon involving 1.6 million loans. Subsequently, Mr. Ingber—and other lawyers—have used that proceeding in other residential mortgage-backed securities settlements.

Commenting on 2015, Mr. Ingber said, “The last year has been great, because I've been fortunate to work on cases that are important to the banking industry. I feel like we're on the right side of the law.”
