Arbitration in Brazil has grown so rapidly over the past twenty years that it is frequently referred to as an “explosion.” This, combined with last year’s update to Brazil’s Arbitration Act, is causing the practice of arbitration to develop at a rapid pace.
In this presentation, Gustavo Fernandes de Andrade, a partner in the Rio de Janeiro office of Tauil & Chequer Advogados in association with Mayer Brown LLP, and Allison M. Stowell, a senior associate in Mayer Brown’s New York office, will provide the latest practical guidance on arbitrations involving Brazil, whether they are seated in Brazil or involve assets located there. They will review relevant domestic statutes including implementation of the 2015 amendments to the Brazilian Arbitration Act, provide helpful hints on enforcing foreign awards and discuss the impact of current events on the future of arbitration and Brazil.
