International Arbitration in the Financial Sector: A New Frontier

Learn from Mayer Brown partners Dany Khayat and B. Ted Howes how international arbitration could be adopted by financial institutions as a useful tool in resolving disputes of an international nature. We will also explore how bilateral and multilateral investment treaties provide financial institutions with additional protection in certain international transactions and in the resolution of disputes with states, as illustrated in recent investment arbitration cases.

Mayer Brown’s Global Financial Markets Initiative helps clients deal with the legal and business challenges resulting from the ongoing turbulence in worldwide financial markets. By mobilizing the firm’s global resources from multiple practices and offices, the initiative provides clients with knowledgeable and timely counsel on a broad spectrum of their legal needs.
