Mayer Brown named a finalist for two “Team of the Year” awards by International Financial Law Review

International Financial Law Review (IFLR) has named Mayer Brown as a finalist for “Structured Finance and Securitization Team of the Year” in the 2014 IFLR Americas Awards, and Mayer Brown as a finalist for “Restructuring Team of the Year” in the 2014 IFLR Asia Awards. The awards recognize teams that display “legal innovation” – that “break new legal ground and set market precedents.”

In addition, Mayer Brown advised on four matters that were named as finalists for IFLR for “Deal of the Year” recognition:

• IFLR European Awards: High Yield Deal of the Year – Mayer Brown advised GE Capital Bank Limited on its £79 million secured bilateral invoice discounting and asset-based lending credit agreement with Exopack Advanced Coatings (North Wales) Limited and certain of the English subsidiaries of the Exopack/Skypak group;

• IFLR Asia Awards: Restructuring Deal of the Year – Mayer Brown advised the Vietnam Shipbuilding Industry Group (Vinashin) on its application to the High Court in the UK for sanction of a scheme of arrangement with creditors pursuant to a US $600 million facility, the first time that a Vietnamese company has made use of an English scheme of arrangement as a restructuring tool;

• IFLR Americas Awards: Project Finance Deal of the Year – Mayer Brown represented the Puerto Rico Public-Private Partnerships Authority and the Puerto Rico Ports Authority on the closing of their $2.6 billion, 40-year lease agreement with Aerostar Airport Holdings LLC to privatize San Juan’s Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport, the first privatization of a major US airport; and

• IFLR Americas Awards: Structured Finance and Securitization Deal of the Year – Mayer Brown represented Morgan Stanley as structuring lead underwriter on the securitization by Citibank and Banco Santander of their global trade finance portfolios.
