Mayer Brown receives perfect score in the Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s Corporate Equality Index for eighth consecutive year

15 November 2017

For the eighth consecutive year, Mayer Brown has received a perfect score of 100 percent on the 2018 Corporate Equality Index (CEI), a national benchmarking survey and report on corporate policies and practices related to LGBTQ workplace equality. The survey is administered by the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) Foundation.

The 2018 CEI rated 1,084 businesses in the report, which evaluates LGBTQ-related policies and practices, including non-discrimination workplace protections, domestic partner benefits, transgender-inclusive health care benefits, competency programs and public engagement with the LGBTQ community. By satisfying all of the criteria, Mayer Brown earned a score of 100 percent and the designation as a Best Place to Work for LGBTQ Equality.

“At Mayer Brown, we believe diversity and inclusion are the key ingredients in the recipe for success,” said Mayer Brown’s Director of Diversity & Inclusion, Jeremiah DeBerry. “This recognition further exemplifies the firm’s commitment to creating and maintaining an environment where everyone has an equal opportunity to succeed and reach his or her full potential regardless of race, religion, beliefs, ethnicity, national origin, gender, gender identity, age, disability or sexual orientation.”

Mayer Brown’s Committee on Diversity & Inclusion is involved in several LGBTQ rights initiatives. The firm serves as a national sponsor of the Lambda Legal Defense and Education Fund, a leading legal services organization seeking to establish and protect LGBTQ civil rights. Additionally, each year the firm sponsors and supports a number of LGBTQ community organizations.

HRC is America’s largest civil rights organization working to achieve lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer equality.
