News and Recent Developments
Periodically we like to update our clients on the latest deals and news at Mayer Brown. In doing this, we hope you gain a broader understanding of our global capabilities in the projects and infrastructure sectors.
We are very proud to have been named Infrastructure/Energy Team of the Year at the Lawyer Awards 2012 for our work in developing a legal framework to encourage international investment in the mining industry in Afghanistan. Commenting on the award, Ian Coles, global head of the Mining group, said: “This is a fantastic honor and we very much appreciate the recognition. The work we are doing in Afghanistan to develop a mining code is truly innovative and this award is a testament to the market-leading Mining team we have at Mayer Brown.”
We are also pleased to mention our continued involvement in major infrastructure projects in Puerto Rico. We are representing the Puerto Rico Public-Private Partnerships Authority and the Puerto Rico Ports Authority in the long-term lease of the Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport. Most recently, we have been retained by the City of San Juan, Puerto Rico, to advise on all legal issues pertaining to the Satour light rail project procurement process. You will find additional information about these and other recent projects in the full report.
Lastly, on November 8, 2012, Mayer Brown infrastructure lawyers will be hosting a cocktail and discussion program entitled “Infrastructure Roundtable: What the 2012 Election Means for Infrastructure” in our New York office. View more information on the event.
We hope you find this update of interest.
