Federal Decree No. 8.300/2014: Totalization Agreement on Social Security Between Brazil and France

On September 1, 2014, Decree No. 8.300/2014 was published in the Brazilian government’s Official Gazette, enacting a social security agreement between Brazil and France.

The agreement makes it possible to take into account time worked in both Brazil and France when requesting a social security benefit. In addition, the agreement allows for temporary reassignment for a period of up to 24 months, which can be renewed for the same length of time, enabling the payment of social security benefits in the country of origin.
