We believe that by embracing the different perspectives and backgrounds of our attorneys, we enhance our ability to provide our clients with superior legal service.

We are committed to improving diversity at the firm and in the legal community at large. Our Diversity Scholars Program is just one example of the many initiatives the firm has implemented to promote diversity and inclusion. The program annually provides up to four $15,000 scholarships to qualified law students. The scholarship was created to acknowledge and reward law students with strong academic records and who share our commitment to improving diversity in the legal profession. We are proud to support such high achieving law students.

Eligibility Requirements
Any law student who meets the requirements set forth below is eligible and strongly encouraged to apply.

  • Be a full-time student, who is pursuing a JD degree at an ABA accredited law school (“Participating Law Schools”);
  • Have accepted a position in the firm's Summer Associate Program;
  • Have no more than one full year of law school remaining following participation in the firm's Summer Associate Program; and
  • Not be an immediate family member of a Mayer Brown employee.

Selection Criteria
The selection committee of the Mayer Brown Diversity Scholars Program seeks to award students who have demonstrated the following:

  • High academic achievement;
  • Strong leadership skills;
  • An ability to overcome adversity;
  • A commitment to improving diversity in the legal profession, including law school; and
  • Strong writing and communication skills.

Application Procedure
Mayer Brown Law School Scholarship applications will be provided to those students who have received and accepted an offer to participate in the firm's Summer Associate Program.
