Mayer Brown partner Rajesh De named a 2015 “Cybersecurity & Data Privacy Trailblazer” by The National Law Journal

17 December 2015

Mayer Brown announced that Washington DC partner Rajesh De has been named to The National Law Journal’s (NLJ) inaugural list of “Cybersecurity & Data Privacy Trailblazers.” The list recognizes 50 people who have “helped make a difference in the fight against criminal cyber activity and towards adding much needed layers of data security in an increasingly digital world of commerce.” The NLJ noted that the winners show “a deep passion and perseverance in pursuit of their mission, having achieved remarkable successes along the way.”

Mr. De was a partner at Mayer Brown before serving the US government in a series of notable positions. Most recently, he served as General Counsel at the United States National Security Agency (NSA), a role in which he ensured intelligence and military agencies had the necessary legal tools to deal with cyber threats. The NLJ noted that, after returning to Mayer Brown this year to lead the firm’s global Cybersecurity & Data Privacy practice, Mr. De has broadened his focus beyond breaches. “Rather than going straight to thinking about breaches, we want to consider how boards of directors are set to deal with supply chain and training issues,” Mr. De told the publication. “Thinking about it strategically is one way the firm breaks new ground.” (View profile.)
