3. What happens during the first weeks and months?
During our New Joiner Trainings, we first provide you with initial basics and familiarise you with our IT systems. From the very beginning, you will work on your own responsibility and in international teams with direct client contact. In addition to on-the-job training, we promote professional and personal continuing education through internal and external ongoing training and secondments to our offices in other countries or the legal departments of major clients.

7. What requirements do you expect from applicants?

8. Do I have to have obtained my LLM in an English-speaking country?
There are a number of reasons for this. From the first day at Mayer Brown, you will do a large part of your work in English. Moreover, you will have constant contact with our international offices and clients. Our experience has been that people entering the job market who have lived for a longer period abroad find it significantly easier to familiarize themselves with these aspects. Intercultural experience and seasoned handling of legal English are important factors in your ability to successfully settle into your work with us. In our opinion, an LLM program in an English-speaking country enables you to acquire and expand precisely these abilities, apart from the professional continuing education.

9. Do you prefer LLMs from specific universities?
Our recommendation is to obtain the LLM from a reputable institution and to demonstrate that you have acquired a basic understanding of the Anglo-American legal system and are able to work in legal English.

10. Are there alternatives to an LLM program?
Yes. For example, you may learn idiomatic and legal English through a longer period abroad and an internship, test yourself in dealing with other cultures and thus build your experience.
