Joining Mayer Brown as a lawyer
Mayer Brown’s strength essentially lies within the quality of its teams, which have contributed to its development and excellent reputation. Our lawyers often graduated from prestigious French or foreign universities and Grandes Ecoles.

We hire lawyers with very different levels of experience. We make sure that in each case, these lawyers will completely fit in our structure as quickly as possible through our mentoring system which has proven to be efficient.

We entrust our young associates with tasks leading to a quick empowerment and allowing them to be involved in the processing and follow-up of cases.

Our lawyers come from a wide range of backgrounds. We have a particular interest for applicants that have completed their legal training with a postgraduate in a business school, as well as an international Masters as the LLM, in France or abroad, showing their ability to speak foreign languages.

We give priority to bilingual profiles (English-French) given the multicultural profile of our clients and the international orientation of the cases we are entrusted with.

Besides our applicants’ academic excellence, we take into account their human qualities, spirit of openness and initiative.

Joining Mayer Brown as an intern
Through our internships, our interns are offered the opportunity to be immediately immersed into our firm, thus allowing them to learn about the type of activity within a global law firm.

Our interns are part of our different focused teams and each of them are mentored by an experienced lawyer.

The level of involvement of our interns allow them to gradually take on responsibilities under the supervision of the lawyers within their teams.

Every year we welcome about 30 interns for a period of one to six months.

During their internships, our interns are entrusted with legal assignments, including jurisprudential, doctrinal and legislative research, preparing for legal advice and the drafting of contracts and conclusions. Our interns may also take part in legal audits, negotiation meetings and attend hearings before judicial authorities or arbitration courts.

Our interns are given the opportunity to develop their practical training and to show their abilities in the light of a possible recruitment. In this regard, we value the integration of our interns as well as their advancement throughout their internship. This year, as in previous years, most of our young associates have been recruited among our former interns, showing our will to value and keep our most talented interns within the firm.

Training provided within Mayer Brown
It is fundamental, both for the development of knowledge of each and every one, and to ensure the quality of advice provided to our clients, to grant our lawyers access to quality training sessions in line with their area of focus and their time spent with Mayer Brown.

We make a point of providing our lawyers with efficient and relevant training programs in French and English. Within the Paris office, the training program covers various legal aspects as well as financial, accounting and economic aspects, to make sure our lawyers can rely on the most comprehensive knowledge of our clients’ legal, economic and regulatory constraints.
