Brazil: CNPE Establishes Working Group to Propose General Guidelines Regarding Energy Policies for the E&P Industry

On October 13, 2016, the National Council of Energy Policy – CNPE published Resolution No. 6, which establishes the constitution of a Working Group with the purpose of proposing general guidelines regarding the energy policy for  oil and natural gas exploration and production activities.

The Working Group will be composed of the Ministers or respective substitutes of nine Ministries, the Energy Research Company (EPE), the States’ and Federal District’s representative, the public’s representative (energy specialist), and the representative of the Brazilian university (energy specialist), and will be coordinated by the Ministry of Mines and Energy. The Working Group will be able to invite specialists or representatives of other bodies, entities and associations (public or private) to participate in the meetings and to offer assistance.

The Working Group shall present the final report to CNPE with an action plan within the term of one hundred and twenty (120) days.
